You can disable the theme:

Sony PSP E3 Predictions

E3 2009 is just around the corner, and the industry press is already chomping at the bit to get its hands on information about what secrets the conference will reveal. By far the most important part of the E3 event are the individual console manufacturer press conferences, where spokespeople from these companies take the stage to demo their latest games and hardware. The Sony press conference will take place on June 2nd at 11 AM, and we expect the Japanese hardware manufacturer to drop some major megaton news regarding their upcoming business plans. Below, we offer some predictions about what the conference may have in store for PSP and PS3 owners. As usual, sources cannot be named and deniability is de rigeur.

PSP E3 Predicitons:

Shadow of the Colossus PSP Announced - To accompany its even bigger announcement that a Shadow of the Colossus sequel is in development for the PS3, Sony will reveal a smaller handheld port of the popular franchise. The handheld version will be built largely from the same engine that powered the PS2 game and will bridge the gap between itself and the upcoming PS3 title, much the same way as Resistance: Retribution did.

PSP Go! Revealed, Priced at $169.99 - This new iteration of the PSP hardware will drop the UMD for downloadable content and slide-out controls, but will remain largely unchanged from its predecessors. Besides the aesthetic touches, the most significant change will be the addition of on-board storage for downloadable content - 8 or 16 GB in size. The old PSP 3000 model will also get a price drop leading up to the release of the next hardware revision.

Gran Turismo Portable Announced, Dated for 2010 - The automobile simulator is under development, with input from Polyphony Digital. But the game is not far enough along to launch along side the PSP Go! and will probably slip to early 2010. But it is coming, guys. Seriously, we mean it this time.

A New Twisted Metal PSP - speaking of driving games we haven't heard from in a while, here's one that is sure to please Sony fans. Incognito and Sony will unveil a new Twisted Metal PSP game to coincide with the upcoming release of Twisted Metal on the PS3 (oh yeah, that's coming as well).

PSOne classics coming to North American PSN - Japanese gamers already have Final Fantasy 7 on PSN, but we will be getting it as well. Along with a host of other classic titles, expect to see Metal Gear Solid and Resident Evil: Director's Cut arrive on the service in 2009.

PlayStation size storage updates

Completely void of any new playable games apart from Red Faction: Guerrilla and UFC 2009 Undisputed in demo form, this week’s PlayStation Store update proves size really does matter. Thankfully, there is a diverse selection of add-on content to choose from, including a LittleBigPlanet mini-pack sporting stickers and costumes from the Heavenly Sword universe. Elsewhere, two custom character packages for Disgaea 3 creep onto the store, along with the second vehicle expansion set for Midnight Club Los Angeles.

On the PSP front, UMD legacy title Ratchet & Clank: Size Matters makes the jump to digital format. Additionally, for those anxiously awaiting the arrival of Patapon 2, an assortment of pre-formatted trailers are up for viewing on the store.

Homebrew: Flash Spacer v2.7

Homebrew developer alex_e has released an update to Flash Spacer, a utility designed for removing non-essential files from the PSP’s on-board flash memory, such as the Location Free player and various font files. When doing so it also backs up any deleted files for restoration purposes.

The latest build, version 2.7, features support for backing up the act.dat data file, which stores pertaint license data on downloaded PSN titles. This file of course can also be restored if needed.

How to put games on psp

1. First thing we got to do is to plug the PSP to the computer with USB cable.
2. Then in your PSP menu go to: Settings -> USB Connection (see image)

3. Now it depends on the PSP Game file type:
If the psp game file extension is .iso or .cso you need to copy the file unzipped to ISO folder, if you don't have one yet just create it.
(If your file type is .pbp skip to the next image)

4. If the PSP Game file is .pbp, copy the folder to PSP\GAME folder.
Do NOT change the file name in the folder !!! .pbp file must be named: Eboot.pbp or else the game will not work

5. After unplugging the USB cable, in your PSP menu go to: Game -> Memory Stick
All the PSP Games you have installed will wait you there.

How to Update PSP Slim to V3.90.

Right after you download the firmware at http://download.daniusoft.com/psp-download/PSPV3.90.rar , extract your PSPV3.90.rar file and look for a file called EBOOT.PBP.
Link up PSP Slim to microcomputer with the USB port, open up your memory stick, just go to the 'GAME' folder, make fresh folder called as 'UPDATE', move the EBOOT.PBP then put it on.
Immediately, switch on PSP Slim, just go to Game -- Memory Stick, you will find the update file:

Hit 'Enter' key to open that file. It will show your directions regarding the way to complete the update procedure.

Notice: be sure your battery has no less than fifty percent power when you start to update.
When update completed, you are able to go to Settings > System Settings > System Information to confirm the firmware version of the PSP Slim. If you do a proper update, it will show the System Software Version as 3.90.

Sony: PSP and PS3 sales to climb 10-15 per cent

Sony expects PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Portable sales to rise 10-15 per cent over the coming year, according to SCEA marketing executive, John Koller.

While the company has yet to confirm hardware sales figures for its fiscal year ended March, Koller said expectations were high.

"We've been very bullish on PSP," he told VG247. "We had our largest sales year ever last year, and we’d look to go about 10-15 per cent north of that this year.

"It's for a number of reasons, but primarily because of the entertainment packs and line-up of software that's coming. The software line-up alone should drive a lot of hardware sales.

"For PS3 I'll stay general as well, but we also had our best sales year for PS3 last year and we'll look to go north of that by a similar percentage.

"That's being driven by, in a lot of ways, our first-party software line-up, which is outstanding, but there's some third-party titles coming. The line-up's very strong."

Koller concluded: "What I mentioned there was North America-focused, but you could probably extrapolate that globally as well."

Nintendo DS comes above PSP again

Nintendo's handheld platform, the DS, was once again atop the Japanese hardware sales chart for the week ending March 22, according to the latest data from Media Create.

It sold just over 80,000 units in total, largely thanks to the release of the 120,000-selling Super Robot Taisen K in the same week, beating the PlayStation Portable into second place with sales of just over 65,000.

The PlayStation 3 had another consistent week, shifting just over 25,000 units, while the Wii's slow sales continued on 18,000.

The Xbox 360's recent sales surge has all bit disappeared on a lack of high-profile software titles, while the PlayStation 2 continues to slowly trail off.

The DSi accounted for 71,233 of the total DS sales, with the DS Lite taking 8948.

Sony: Digital releases as standard could be five years away

Sony's John Koller has told GamesIndustry.biz that the company is still undecided on publishing PSP titles simultaneously on UMD and via digital distribution.

Although Sony wants to make as much content available to PSP consumers digitally, Koller said that day and date releases on both formats is a mid-term goal, and might not be standard for five years.

"In North America we haven't made a firm decision if and when we're going to launch day and date, retail and digital. In Japan we do, and Europe's going that way. In America we're looking at the opportunity," said Koller ahead of his session at the Game Developers Conference today.

"Digital kind of fits our view of the world in the mid-term, not in the short term – three to five years out. We want to start providing the content to the consumers and start to get them to a place where they can accept digital distribution," he added.

While Sony is listening to consumer demand for digital distribution, Koller said that retail is still essential to the business, and will remain key for game sales.

"Music hung on to the disc format for as long as possible, when consumers were actively saying 'we're very interested in digital'," offered Koller. "We're very happy to provide that content and at least allow the consumer to make that choice. We want to provide the option to wake up in the morning and get it on-line or walk to the store and buy it."

Sony has tried various digital delivery and pricing structures via the PlayStation Network already, and Koller said there are still business models the company intends to test in the market.

"We're looking at various models to see when to launch those. That's not to say retail is going away, because it's not. It's a balance, it's a very fine balance because retail does so much for us that digital maybe can't. So different models are floating around and we haven't made a firm decision on that."

PSP and PS3 top Japanese chart

Sony's PlayStation Portable and PlayStation 3 have outsold their rival Nintendo counterparts in Japan for the second consecutive week, according to data released by Media Create.

The PSP sold 43,463 units to take the top spot in the charts, outselling the combined total of the Nintendo DSi and DS Lite sales at 39,135 units.

PS3 sales hit 28,014 units, compared to Nintendo Wii sales of 17,941 units, while the Xbox 360 lagged behind at 8378 units, and the PlayStation 2 at 4844.

Sony: Downloadable games for PSP?

Sony Computer Entertainment America's director of hardware marketing, John Koller, has revealed that one of the company's "big pushes this year" will be downloadable games for the PlayStation Portable.

And he also outlined plans to release digital versions of key games alongside the UMD launches - a move which might spell the end for the proprietary format which has proven unpopular with retailers.

"Holistically, the idea of digital distribution fits into the world as we go forward," Koller told Wired. "Not to say that retail isn't of extreme importance, because it is. But the idea of offering content to consumers, to make it easy, you can wake up in the morning, download something and go, it's very appealing.

"So one of our big pushes this year is to be sure that the right kind of content and the right kind of games in particular are placed on the PlayStation Network for download on the PSP.

"We've been engaged in a wide range of conversations with publishers over the last year, year and a half about software and games overall on the PSP. One significant topic that hasn't necessarily been covered a lot is inclusion of digital copies of the games that they're launching on UMDs.

"In the back half of this year, we should see a good rise in the amount of content that comes to PSN for the PSP. We're aware that most of the content thus far has been for PlayStation 3, and that's based on the usage model and who has been demanding that content. But as we continue, and there's more of a desire from the consumer for PSP content, we're going to really increase the size and amount of content that's available."

And when asked about the timeframe for new titles, Koller noted that a number of titles recently announced were set for release in the latter part of 2009, and that "marrying those launches with the digital versions of those launches obviously makes development sense".

"We haven't really decided how the timetable will work on launches that are digital versus retail, but we are looking at digital versions of the games that launch on UMD, yes," he said in response to a question specifically noting PSP editions of LittleBigPlanet and MotorStorm.

Koller's comments echo those made recently by Sony's UK MD Ray Maguire, who told GamesIndustry.biz that downloads would "increasingly become a bigger part of [the PSP's] future."

Here is a cool iTunes tutorial I found. Very useful I think.

Other excellent software that a lot of people probably not have recognized about is iTunes PSP server, it permits stream songs from the iTunes library into an PSP with a electronic network/online link. What basically takes place is this make use of the PSP’s data streaming RSS Podcasting capability, the server produces RSS feeds according to the playlists you get in the iTunes library, you then surf to a particular webpage on the PSP’s browser and put these RSS feeds onto the PSP, then, you’ll find a specific list of the music from the iTunes library as “podcasts” in the PSP, permitting you to flow them from around the home or globe (if routers/firewalls are adequately adjusted)

Sony has sold 50 million PSP

If there were any doubts still lingering about the PSP being a success in the hardware market, today’s announcement from Sony should quash them. The company announced that the PSP handheld has achieved 50 million units in worldwide sales since its launch in 2004. In raw figures, this means that the PSP has outsold the Nintendo 64 (33 million), the Xbox 360 (29 million) and the PS3 (27 million).

The company added that it has sold approximately 200 million games for the system since its launch, and that the PSP library now boasts over 2000 titles. These figures include re-issued downloads of PSOne titles as well as UMDs. Many of these purchases have been made over the new PSP Store, introduced in 2008. These figures would give the PSP a respectable worldwide software attach rate of 4:1. This level of software attachment is good, but not great. By contrast, the NPD group estimates the Xbox 360 has an attach rate of 7.5:1, while the Wii is at 5.3:1.

Now that Sony has proven itself capable of creating a top-selling handheld game system, it needs to put some effort into motivating software developers to create popular titles for the system. On the other hand, these sales suggest that software companies should be flocking to the PSP already.

How to Use Car Audio System to Play PSP Sounds Through FM wave

Would it be a wise idea updating to PSP 3000?

3000 is Sony’s latest progress in mobile gaming. The 3000 is for sure an enhancement from earlier PSP types. Immediately you notice that the color seems crisper and clearer. Occasionally in earlier types, when you entered a low-light location inside the game it got difficult to notice and move your way around inside the game. The sony PSP 3000 also boasts Skype, and integral mike to further enhance the PSP in internet gaming. The PSP also has an excellent game list with a lot of of the popular titles from the earlier playstation PSX games and also brand-new titles.

A lot of of these titles also provide artwork that are brilliant to titles ready for the Nintendo DS.

Although the 3000 is unquestionably a progress in the proper direction, that doesn’t imply that the system is without flaws. Within graphical extreme actions while gaming, the system frequently shows scan lines and sometimes has shown a few hiccup while it processes what is passing on. TeamPCT has released a new version of their screenshot plugin called PCT.prx. In version 2, the GIF function has been removed since it ate up too much RAM. TeamPCT will supposedly add it back in again in the next version.

PSP 4000 coming soon?

Well, I still havent get my PSP back from the repairing, so I founs something interesting to read.

Sony let out details about a new console they are planning on releasing this year before christmas.

In an unanticipated move, Sony have announced details on their next portable gaming console in its PlayStation® Portable range, dubbed PSP-4000.

In a statement at a recent press conference, SCEE president David Reeves announced the decision for the hardware update.

What's unusual about this move is that it follows the release of Sony's new console, the PSP-3000, which hit the shelves less than a month ago. Speculators believe that this sooner than expected update was made by Sony in an attempt to give it a competitive advantage over Nintendo's new DSi.

Details on this new model were sketchy however. Reeves announced that the new model is expected to be available before Christmas this year, but the price had yet to be finalized. The new model builds on the PSP-2000's "slim and lite" design, and the PSP-3000's improved screen and built-in microphone, and adds an improved processing unit.

Sony announced details on making PlayStation® 2 games available for download via its PlayStation® Store, which could then be transferred to and played on the PSP-4000.

Critics of the PSPTM say that the system's main weakness is it's lack of quality games, and some believe that Sony is relying on the strength and popularity of its aging console to improve the sales of its current generation systems, the PlayStation® Portable and PlayStation® 3.

I really look forward to this, PS2 games for PSP and more. Well I love my PSP 3004 but I think 4000 version would be awesome!

Well, I love to play Counter Strike on my PSP. Actually it is a lot easier with a mouse to shoot, but if you are away from home, it really gets you out! Played it today on bus when I was going to the dentist, but battery went out after 10 minutes of CS! Remember that PSP must be homebrew to do this
Here's how to get Counter Strike on your PSP:

Connect psp with computer via USB cable
Put psp in USB mode
Download CounterStrike: http://dl.qj.net/General-Games/pg/12/fid/16475/catid/195
Unpack it with WinRar
Find folder "CSPortable 0.75".
Copy it on your PSP location "X:\PSP\GAME" . If you don't have this location, create it.
Unplug your console and go to XMB -> Game -> Memory Stick on your psp.

Game: Ghost Recon - Advanced Warfighter

I think this is the most exciting war game Ive seen so far on PSP. Got it for last christmas. It talks about Scott Mitchell, the leader of the Ghosts, who is sent south of the Panama border to eliminate Guerilla forces believed to be trafficking high-tech weapons to Rebel forces.
I think its an awesome game. Graphics is very real. The only bad thing is, that its hard to hit the enemy.

Transfering music from computer to PSP

First of all you must have a memory card. Connect your PSP to computer. Note that music files must be in MP3, Atrac3+, AAC või WAV format.

Format your memory card with he psp: Settings>System settings>Format Memory Stick

Now do the following:

If you have your music ready(example on desktop) switch on your PSP.
Go to USB mode
Connect the USB cable with PSP and computer
Open folder Removable Disc(or just the icon what pops up) in My Computer
Now open the folder named "PSP"
Open folder named "Music"
Copy your music there.
When the upload is complete, close the folder and remove the cable
Your ready to hear your music

I broke my PSP display

Well I was playing with my PSP today a game Live for Speed. Was doing well and then i accidentally dropped it on the floor. The display is totally messed up. Cant understand nothing from the display now. Tried to take it to the guarantee, but they said that it will cost like 200 dollars to fix it. So I have to think what to do next. I think I will buy a new display for 85 dollars and fix it myself. I will try to get a picture later.

How to install Windows Vista or XP in your PSP?

Now as many people are trying to get Vista on their PSP, I will show you how.

Vista in your PSP has almost all the same utilities as on the computer:

Notepad
Calculator
Web browser
Calender
Paint
Games(26 games)
and many other functions...

Note, that PSP Windows is not homebrew.
Remember, that Windows in PSP doesnt harm your PSP and it is completely safe.

Now how to install Windos Vista. Note that you can install Windows xp the same way!

Download Windows Vista or XP
Unpack the windows in your computer
Connect PSP or memory stick with the computer
Place windows in G:\PSP\COMMON\ or if you connected just the memory card, copy windows in E:\PSP\COMMON\. In the case you dont have these directories, simply create them yourself.
Now got to PSP browser.
Type in: file:///psp/common/pspwxp/index.htm
And you are ready to use your windows!
